There’s just this giant pile of cut logs (that’s been laying out in the rain, naturally) near one loop of the site. Drive on over, scramble on a not totally structurally stable pile of wood rubble to find ones that aren’t so wet, and chuck them in.

Sounds like here lately...the power corp. / DOT went along all the roads with bucket trucks and cut branches off the trees as far back the road as the DOT owns to clear them away from the power lines in case of storms etc.....then just left the wood sitting there. Some of the branches were huge, so I’ve seen a lot of folks with pick-ups just pull up with their chainsaws, pick up the decent wood, cut it smaller if need be, then drive off. :)

That’s pretty good, Provincials here in BC charge you $8ea/$15 for two ‘bundles’ that end up being 8 or 10 quarter pieces of iffy beetle pine or mystery wood cut to 12 inches..
Plus they give you serious grief about bringing/taking your own..
I would gladly go back to the woodpile days where you get to pick your own..

Yep, I remember that from when my wife and I were camping with my G35 coupe . It fit a surprising amount of firewood.
I love that Jasper/Banff area and can't wait to go back someday. Enjoy.
